Costa Rica does not use physical addresses.  The Villa is located 25-45 minutes from the Liberia airport depending on traffic.  It is on the Pacific side of the country about 2 hours south of Nicaragua. It is in Guanacaste, Carrillo, Sardinal, Ocotal.  Only a 10 min walk or 3 min drive to Ocotal beach with incredible ocean views from the villa. 5 min drive to Playas del Coco where you will find a vast selection of grocery stores, restaurants, and night life.  Close enough to everything, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

A 4WD vehicle is not required.  The roads from the airport are paved. We would recommend a 4WD vehicle if you are going on any adventures off the main roads, especially in the rainy season.

Golf carts are legally driven on the roads and commonly rented throughout Costa Rica.  You can rent a golf cart but they can be pricey and limited supply from December to April. Golf carts are typically not much cheaper than renting a vehicle.

This is impossible to answer and depends on your preference.  May through November is the rainy season, however Guanacaste is the driest region of Costa Rica. During this time of year there may be limited rain or substantial rain.  The norm is about an hour of rain per day, typically in the afternoon or late evening. Everything turns bright, green, flowers and is very beautiful.  From December to May, there is typically not a drop of rain and everything turns brown. We recommend visiting both and experiencing the incredible differences.

The tap water is safe to drink throughout Costa Rica.

You will be hard pressed to find a country that makes you feel more welcome.  Ticos are happy, friendly, and will go out of their way to help you.  In the 7 years we have lived here, we have never felt unsafe. With that being said, petty theft is everywhere in the world and Costa Rica is no different.  You should never leave your belongings unattended, not flash money around, not engage in illegal activities, and be respectful.

The US dollar is accepted everywhere.  A general rule of conversion is to double it and drop the zeros.  For example, if something costs 5,000 colones, that is around $10 US dollars. If you use a credit card, ensure your card does not charge foreign transaction fees.  Have the merchant charge your card in colones as your card will give you a much better conversion rate.

Eating out is an event for Ticos and they will not rush you.  Just ask for your bill when you are ready or wave at the wait staff if you need something.  Most restaurants have the tip included.  You should see propina or servicio listed on your bill. Tipping extra is not expected but appreciated if you received great service. You will see "Soda" everywhere.  These are little Costa Rican restaurants that are much cheaper and have really good food. Favorite restaurants are Donde Mario in Sardinal and Soda Mar y Tierra in Coco.

You will find many grocery stores in Playas del Coco.  If you see sales prices, those are usually only for members.  Ask the cashier to sign up.  It's free and only takes a few minutes to save money. Avoid any name brand items as they are much more expensive than the generic. Buy fruits and veggies from the roadside stands as they are much cheaper and taste better.  Check out the farmers market on Sundays. Get fresh squeezed orange juice for $10 per gallon from the roadside stand at the turn for Playa Hermosa. Get your beef from San Martin in Coco. Get your sausage form The Sausage Guy in Coco.

Playa Ocotal has some amazing snorkeling.  We offer high quality snorkel sets to rent for $10 per set per day.

There are several great dive shops in Coco that can arrange an amazing dive for you.
